About the Faculty

The Faculty of Science at the University of Gothenburg does research and education within science and math.

The Faculty of Science and its seven departments offer research and education in biology, earth sciences, physics, chemistry, cultural conservation, marine sciences, mathematics, environmental science and molecular biology.

Our research spans vast areas – everything from the basic sciences to applications within for example environmental and climate research, life sciences and biological diversity. The Faculty’s research in the field of cultural conservation is unique in the country. The University of Gothenburg is also a leader in European marine research.

We train the next generation of natural scientists and mathematicians and prepare them for dealing with many of tomorrow’s important challenges. We offer education at Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD level in close interaction with our research.
