  • Amazonian rainforests gave birth to the world´s most diverse tropical region

    [15 May 2018] A new study finds that plants and animals have moved into novel habitats surprisingly often. It turns out that many species in the American tropics can trace their origins back to the Amazon basin.

  • The Baltic shows the way for the world´s oceans

    [9 May 2018] Warming, acidification, eutrophication, and oxygen depletion in areas of sea bottom are some of the changes that are taking place or expected to take place in the world¿s oceans. An international research team is now promoting the Baltic Sea Region as a model for predicting and reversing the imminent changes in the coastal areas of the world¿s oceans.

About the Faculty of Science

The Faculty of Science includes all the major subject areas in the fields of mathematics and natural sciences. With 6 612 students and 726 employees it is the second largest Faculty at the University.
