Vision and aims
The University’s Vision 2020 points out the direction for the future.
‘Quality-driven research, education and cooperation in an inspiring environment, strong social responsibility and global engagement enable the University of Gothenburg to contribute to a better future.’
The Faculty of Science contributes to realising the University’s vision and has identified the following objectives as particularly important in the next three-year period:
- The high quality of the Faculty’s research and education shall be maintained through well-planned strategic work centred around the working conditions of the teaching staff and other personnel.
- We shall work actively to increase the Faculty’s international cooperation in both research and education.
- The PhD programmes shall be of high scientific quality and prepare the next generation of scientists for contributions both within and outside academia.
- Promotion of scientific literacy in the general population shall be a natural component of the Faculty’s educational assignment.
- Pedagogical development, excellent teachers, internationalisation and interaction with schools, teacher training programmes and the rest of society shall form the cornerstones of our courses and degree programmes.
- Our staff shall feel comfortable with their work environment and be able to influence both the Faculty’s work and their own situation.
- The issue of appointing teaching staff by means of University-allocated funding shall be given special priority in order to increase our competitiveness.
