The Faculty of Science embraces all major subject areas within
mathematics and the natural sciences. Research and education
are closely connected and the Faculty offers international Master’s
programmes as well as over 100 courses in English.
The University of Gothenburg is at the forefront of European
marine research, and our marine courses connect theory with
practical observation on, in and at the sea. The closeness to the
sea makes for a particularly educational and stimulating study
environment.
Other internationally renowned research areas include experimental
physics, biochemistry, atmospheric science, climate,
ecosystems, and systematics and biodiversity. The research
within the field of cultural conservation is unique in the country.
